Content lock & child protection

Making sure children can use mobiles safely is a top priority for us.

T-Mobile have developed a system called Content lock which helps prevent children from accessing sites containing 18-rated material or unmoderated user generated content. This includes social networks, blogging sites and chat & dating sites such as My space, Facebook and Blogger as well as 18-rated adult services.

All of our mobiles are sold with Content Lock turned on.

However, if you’re over 18 you can remove Content Lock. You can verify your age by credit card or by a name and address check through a credit reference agency.

To switch content lock off please call 1818 from your mobile

What is My Stuff and how does it work?

My Stuff is a section where you can add mini web applications or 'widgets'  to your W'n'W homepage in order to bring some of your most common web sites and activities closer to you. Your page can be personalised in this way by using cookies and tokens on your phone’s browser.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with My Stuff?

For any problems with web'n'walk from price plan issues to widget issues, please contact Customer Services as normal on 150 from your T-Mobile handset or email customerservices@t-mobile.net.

Will my details be secure?

Yes, T-Mobile will not store any of your passwords or account details. They will all be kept with the application provider. We have created a highly secure system for managing quick login with your providers, for example, to place a bid with Ebay, you will need to actively sign in when prompted as you would do normally.

Does My Stuff cost anything?

No, 'My Stuff' is part of Web'n'Walk, so it comes as part of your normal W'n'W or other data tariff. There are no additional charges for any of the things you can add to your homepage.

Can I make my homepage faster?

If your homepage takes too long to load there may be a network issue. You could try again in a less busy place or time. Alternatively the homepage may be slower because of things you have added to My Stuff. To make it faster you can try to keep items closed when you are not using them, or you can remove them altogether. To do this, just click on the 'Edit' button and then select the 'Remove' link for the appropriate service.

What happens to My Stuff if I change my handset or sim?

In most cases, if you change your handset or your sim, the cookies will be lost and your personalised links will be deleted. You will therefore need to set them up again.

How do I get rid of widgets from my homepage?

If you want to get rid of widgets, click on the 'Edit' button in the My Stuff box and you'll see all the widgets you have already added to your homepage. Next to each one there is a link saying 'Remove'. Just click this link, confirm that you do want to delete it, and it will be removed.

Can I change the order of My Stuff?

Widgets within My Stuff will stack in the order that you set them up, so the only way you can move things up or down the page will be to remove them and add them again in the required order. In the future we’ll provide a way to move things around more easily.

When will new applications be available?

We are continuously working to add new applications to My Stuff, so we recommend you check on a regular basis. The best way to see what's available is to click 'See all available stuff' on the homepage.

Do I need to login to My Stuff?

No, we will recognise you from your handset. However, you will need to login to see some of your personal accounts and make a bid on Ebay for example. This is for security reasons.

Can I create a new email or ebay account in My Stuff?

No, but there is nothing to stop you setting up a new account on their web site, then setting up a shortcut within My Stuff once you have your new login details.

What is History?

History is the place where the last sites you visited are listed. It is designed to save you time if you often visit the same sites. It will include web addresses that you entered, links from the homepage and any Yahoo! search result pages. Up to 10 pages will be listed here, and they will be the pages you visited most recently.

Can I delete my History?

Yes you can delete your History. Just open up the link and scroll to the bottom of the list, then select 'Delete History'. The History list will clear, and then it will continue to work again, collecting your most recent web sites.

What is an RSS feed?

An RSS or News feed allows you to read new content from websites as it is published.  The content, which could be headlines or other information is delivered by a feed from its original website to your phone (or PC) without you having to visit the originating website.

Feeds are also known as RSS. There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people plump for 'Really Simple Syndication'. In essence, the feeds themselves are just web pages, designed to be read by computers rather than people.

How many feeds can I add to my homepage?

You can add as many as you want, but they will take up a certain amount of space, so you may choose not to add too many. On many phones you can view the feed as a ticker – just one headline at a time, so this may be a good way of saving space. You will see this option on the screen as you set up your feeds.

Watching TV on your mobile

Many websites allow you to watch streamed TV or videos on your computer. However these services use software that is not available for mobile phones.

T-Mobile’s mobile TV service offers a great selection of channels including live sky channels Click here to find out more (compatible handset required)

Set up your email

Sending and receiving emails on your phone is included within your web 'n' walk priceplan or day pass.

There are 3 ways of managing email on your phone:-

1. Set up your email account to deliver the emails directly to your phone whenever you ask it to click here. N.B. This does not work for Hotmail.

2. Online using your phone's browser - simply go to the relevant web page for your email service provider eg. www.hotmail.com

3. Via an application on your phone - some email service providers have a downloadable application or client eg. for google mail go to http://gmail.com/app/

For instant email or Blackberry email please go to www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/email-solutions/.
